Help find your children quicker, in case of an Emergency!

This post is sponsored by USFG & DDC

Every parents worse fear is the thought of something happening to their children. But if we happen to find ourselves in a situation where our child is in danger, Don't we all want our kids found in the quickest amount of time possible? Law enforcement agencies state that the first 3 hours of a missing child’s search are the most important! Having just your child's fingerprints won't be enough if DNA is needed. Police need to collect DNA from the child’s home and send it to a laboratory to get the profile. That ends up taking up most if not all of the first 3 hours or maybe even more! Up until recent years - all we had to help keep our children safe was the ability to keep a record of their fingerprints... Until now! ChildProtect by DNA offers DNA profiles for kids that can be given to the police if DNA is needed! Child Protect by DNA is provided by DNA Diagnostics Center, the largest private DNA company in the world and #1 hospital recommended in the US. What's a DNA Profile? A DNA profile is a Genetic Fingerprint and every person’s is unique. It's used by police when they find an item (saliva) that contains traces of DNA. By having a DNA profile on hand, the police have something to compare against. If there is no DNA profile, police need to collect DNA from the child’s home and send it to a laboratory to get the profile.
This is not kept in a database, but is kept solely by you. In the case of an emergency, you can provide this profile to law enforcement who can compare it to DNA at a crime scene and speed up the process to bring your child back safely. Over 800,000 children go missing every year! Help your child get found quicker incase of an emergency!
Every profile is signed by a PhD when it leaves the DDC laboratory so you don't have to worry about things going wrong. You will have the signature that confirms that your DNA sample is legit.

A DNA profile which years ago was over $400 is now only $99. But my readers will receive a limited time $50 off coupon by going to www.childprotectbydna.com and using the code USFamily50

What are people saying about ChildProtect by DNA?

I do not want to ever think that something could happen, but if it did I now have something that will save time in finding her. It was super easy to do. The instructions were simple enough, and discreet." Rich in San Diego

I would recommend this product to other parents who want to take the next step in protecting their child, but can’t implant them with a tracking chip.” Gary Hoffman

The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting

Disclaimer: I received the product(s) mentioned below complimentary from the sponsor in return for my honest thoughts and opinions. All opinions are all my own and may differ from your own. Even though some sort of compensation may have been received, I only write about products that I have personally used and/or believe my readers will enjoy or benefit from. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

Not Potty Trained - Not trying!

love reading, but sometimes I have to be in the mood for reading or the book has to be extremely interesting before I can spend alot of time with a book in my hand.
I’ve been reading a bit more than normal here lately and I’ve come to realize that I have a lot more time on my hands since my kids are out of town. The book I’ve been getting into is called The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting. It’s actually very funny and I’m surprised that I’ve gotten into it as much as I have. I’m normally more of a Fantasy Book kind of girl but The Honest Toddler is a one of a kind book that I have a hard time putting down! One of my favorite things about the book is the letters written to and from “The Honest Toddler” along with the Homework assignments that HT likes to give. It’s not your normal homework either…. It’s stuff like:

  • “Slow down on the bad ideas”

or one of my favs…

  • ”Go to the grocery store with your child at 5:30pm. When the loud response starts, scream, “EVERYONE SHUT UP, I NEED TO HELP MY CHILD.” - Then open four large bags of chips and a juice box. Let your child feast.”

How fun does that grocery store assignment sound? I bet I would have LOTS of odd looks coming my way but I would be laughing to hard to notice and my kids would be chowing down on the chips J Truthfully, so would I!!

While glancing  at the back of The Honest Toddler, I learned that the book was based on Bunmi Laditan’s (the author) youngest daughter. The description of The Honest Toddler made me giggle -- Not potty trained, not trying, enjoys attention, cake, television, running and games.  Reminds me of my girls a few years ago. Their not toddlers anymore but we still have many “loud responses” (HT‘s replacement for Tantrums) in stores, at home and wherever else my daughters decide to let it all out at.  While reading the book, I actually did realize that even though I may be taking advice from a “Toddler”, I do need to calm down on my yelling and start realizing that I am the problem a lot of the times when I jus happen to get upset with my girls are blame them for something that I NOW know… is my fault. I enjoyed reading The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting more than I thought I would. Like mentioned above, I couldn't get enough of the Homework and the letters written to and from HT (Honest Toddler) are hilarious! One of my favorite letters is:

Dear Honest Toddler.
Do you know where I can find toddler-sized ‘80s rock band concert tees? I’m trying to look worldly.
Sincerely, Trying Hard in West Virginia

  • The response from the Honest Toddler:

Dear Trying,
Your toddler is not a living memorial to your interest. You’re embarrassing yourself.
Love, HT

HT even gives her opinion on Amber Necklaces, Potty Training and many other things that parents (including myself) like to believe is right and/or helps our child, when in reality…. Most of them are just a waste of money and time. HT has a strong opinion on the life of raising a young child and even if your child is no longer a toddler, I recommend you read The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting! I guarantee that you will not only pee yourself due to extreme laughter but you will learn something as well! The Honest Toddler gets a BIG Thumbs up from me and it has done wonders when it came to keeping my mind off my daughters being at their MawMaws this past week! I couldn’t of asked for a better read!

Frugal ways to Enhance your Beauty & Sooth Your Body & Soul

Today I have 2 recipes that I'm going to share with you that I've had since I was in Elementary School! I remember buying a DIY book from the Book Fair, I believe it was my 5th grade year, that was full of neat little DIY projects for "Tweens". I don't remember the name of the book but I did write the recipes down in a journal that I kept back then and I just happen to still have a few of my old journals!! Even though I bought the book when I was still a child, the projects and recipes are still just as interesting and fun, now that I'm an adult.
The recipes I'll be sharing today are to help you relax and stay beautiful! They are all very simple to make and don't cost very much at all!
Enjoy!

Pear Facial Mask

Pears are wonderful for moisturizing! The following recipe is a great soother for sun-drenched skin. It even works great on skin that has a bit of redness or blotches.
This recipe is enough for 1 mask

You will need:
  • 1 Ripe Pear
  • 1 Tablespoon of Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon of Light Cream of While Milk

Directions:
  • Peal and Core the Pear and Cut it into Small Pieces
  • In a small bowl - Mash the pear into a smooth paste
  • Stir in the Honey and Cream
  • Spread the mixture over your face and neck - Keep the mask away from your eyes
  • Lay back and relax with your eyes closed for about 20 to 30 minutes
  • Rinse with Warm Water - Splash with Cool Water - Pat your face dry.

**Using Milk and Cream to keep your skin milky-smooth (haha love the milky addition :) Couldn't help myself!) is an old Southern beauty trick?

Honey-Vanilla Bath and Footsie Soak

If your skin isn't soft enough for you from the top two recipes, this body soak will quickly do the trick! You'll feel completely relaxed when your surrounded in the oh-so-heavenly scent of honey and vanilla that will follow you  long after your bath is complete.

You will need:
  • 1/2 cup of Baby Oil or Mineral Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Honey
  • 1/2 cup of Unscented liquid soap
  • 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
A Squeeze bottle to store your soak in. (A honey-bear is the perfect bottle and looks super adorable sitting on your bathroom counter or tub!)

Directions:
  • Mix all ingredients together until the honey completely dissolves.
  • Pour all contents into the squeeze bottle.
  • Shake the mixture before each use
  • For Baths -- Use about 1/4 cup
  • For Foot Soak -- 2 or 3 Squirts
I hope you enjoy your Beauty Treatments and save all kinds of that hard money this weekend!
If you have a daughter, these recipes would be a great addition to a Mommy-Daughter Day! You can give each other the Spa Treatment!!
My daughters come home from being at their Mawmaw's house for a week and a half and I'm planning to have an All girl's night once their daddy goes to work tomorrow night!! :) I can't wait!!

Planning an All Girls Sleep-Over?
Turn it into a spa night!
Serve up Fruit and Flavored Water while the girls are all laid back with a Pear Mask, Cucumber Eyes and their feet soaking in a nice, warm Honey Vanilla Foot Soak!
I believe you would end up with a Slumber Party Success!

The Diary of a Blogger with No Internet

I can no longer promise daily blog posts anymore. What frustrates I’ve come to realize that me the most is that I just started them but it’s okay, we’ll work through this minor bump in the road and move past it soon. In the mean time, I’ve decided to begin a new temporary segment that I’m calling “The Diary of a Blogger with No Internet”. (I do have an available internet connection but I can‘t reach it all the time, at the moment.) I will continue to bring you all the normal reviews, giveaways, crafts, and so forth. I will be adding my personal touch through this new segment. I hope you enjoy the addition. Feel free to comment all you like. I try to always comment back as much as possible.

Here is my first Diary Entry

How I Transformed my Lonley Night w/out Kids

Missing my little girls

This past Monday was the beginning of the first full week that I’m not going to be waking up to my daughters each morning and I’m not too sure how I feel about it. I was excited Sunday due to me knowing that my little girls would be coming home Monday afternoon from spending the holiday weekend with family but got quite a surprise that night when I found out that Mj’s mama had agreed to letting him stay in Hudson for another week, wither the girls were allowed to stay or not…… Where does that leave me to make my own decision? If I would of said that the girls had to come home, then I’m breaking their hearts due to their brother being able to stay. The kids don’t get to see their dad’s side of the family often so getting the chance to spend the extra time is wonderful. But on the other hand… We haven’t done anything as a family this Summer and I don’t want my daughters’ only memory of this Summer being their time in Hudson. This may sound mean and thoughtless but I want to be in their memories. It saddens me when I realize that the Summer is almost over and I’ve done nothing with my girls except throw them a “so-so” birthday party that I didn’t even get the chance to plan thoroughly. I have 8 pictures (out of a normal 100+ per holiday!) from the 4th of July this year and they don’t even include fireworks…. I wasn’t interested in the fireworks this year because I quickly realized that they’re not fun to be around unless I have the girls’ amazed faces to watch as well. And as sappy as it may sound… It’s how I feel right now. Writing it down is the only way that helps me move past moments like these and since my blog has slowly replaced my journal, my thoughts have become public. Which could mean anything during the next few days. Never again will I continuously complain about not being able to find a babysitter when I need one. I’ll replace my complaining with Craft Time,
We need more “Mommy - Daughter time anyways”
I miss my little girls very much and while I hope they’re having a lot of fun….

My Countdown to when Mommy’s Little Dancing Diva’s return home begins…..

3 more days!

How I transformed my Lonely Night w/out kids into something more……

I’m the type of person who enjoys being alone. I treasure every moment that I get to spend when I’m all by myself. But now that I’m finding myself completely alone in my house, with no kids sleeping in their room…. I’m not as relaxed and happy as I normally feel. It caught me off guard and taken me a bit of time to deal with it properly.

Here’s what helped me cope

  • Slept…… Alot
  • Sat in my yard and was able to blog for a little bit before my battery died in my laptop…. I should of charged it first :(
  • Played Games on my phone (I‘m extremely obsessed with a couple different ones)
  • Read a little of The Honest Toddler: A Child’s guide to Parenting
  • Worked on my reviews
  • Squished a few flying ants (I had to add this one because I didn‘t even know they existed until a few weeks ago!!)
  • Discovered a collection of Princess Stickers that I started collecting for the girls about 3 or 4 years ago. (There are 2 sets, Each set has 2 parts J - The Princess and The Frog & The Disney Princess - designed before Tiana came about.)
  • Edited Pictures (One of my favorite things to do!)
  • Tried to sign online again with no success and got frustrated
  • Played On My Phone a bit more
  • Put on some music………. (I should of done this earlier)
  • Relaxed enough to stop watching the clock J

I believe I may add cleaning to my steps next time… that wasn’t an option this time. The worse part was that I wasn't able to find my other phone all day and once I did, I realized that my fiance forgot to leave me his mom’s phone number, when he left for work,  so I could call my daughters before bed…. Tomorrow will be a better day.

In the end - I realized that Music is what calmed me down and I was able to enjoy the rest of my - By that time - Night.

Ahhhh How I love music :)

Tipsy Tuesdays....

Tipsy Tuesdays

This topic just don’t make as much since to me as it did the day I created it…. All I can think about is drinking when I say “Tipsy Tuesday” and that’s not exactly what I originally had in mind J I believe I’m going to drop this one. (Daily posts will soon turn be changing completely, keep an eye out for more info.) In the meantime. Everyone enjoys a drink every now and then don’t they? I believe I’m going to go see what I have in the fridge…. Not too sure if I’ll find anything but it’s worth a try!! I’ll let your know what I find....

And I found nothing :(
That could be a good thing though haha!

What's your favorite drink?

The Mustachifier - The Coolest Baby Item Available this Summer

Disclaimer: I received the product(s) mentioned below complimentary from the sponsor in return for my honest thoughts and opinions. All opinions are all my own and may differ from your own. Even though some sort of compensation may have been received, I only write about products that I have personally used and/or believe my readers will enjoy or benefit from. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

The Coolest Baby Item Available
Summer 2013
-- The Mustachifier --

Have you ever just sat down and started remembering the past?

Thinking about all the things that you seen as a child, like Grand-Pa trying to doe-see-doe while Mamaw tells dirty jokes in the kitchen and your aunts and playing with the family dog's top lip... making him talk. :) Fun times!! Ohh wait... Was that not the kind of things you remember from your childhood? Did your aunt never go fishing and catch 3 living creatures... You - in the eye, a dog and a snapping turtle?
No to all of that too?? You can't tell me that you've never played in a creek where you pretended that the squishy sand was quicksand when all in all - it was simply wet sand mixed with cow droppings from the herd that lived near by!?

Okay, so I guess my child hood was a bit different than most. Those situations are only a small fraction of the crazy and fun memories that fill my head when I think of my childhood. We may have been a bit wild but we always had fun!

My mama's side of the family is mainly made up of girls... Not by choice since the reason my 2 aunts were born was due to my grandparents wanting a boy after my mama was born. :) It didn't happen. Out of 3 daughters - My mama was the only one who had 2 sons after she had me. The rest of us had girls, until this past May. Gail found out she was pregnant with her 2nd child, her 1st was a girl and her second baby turned out to be a little blonde baby boy! Being the fun and joking people that my aunt and uncle are, I know this little boy is going to be a joker also! Once I ran across the Mustachifier in January, before Gail knew that she was having a boy. I fell in-love with the pacifier and had to find a way to get one before the baby-shower.... I never did :( Until a few weeks ago when I opened my email and saw the word Mustachifier! I was suddenly so excited that I couldn't reply fast enough and ended up not even sending the message until the sponsor asked if I was still interested!! I guess I got too excited and forgot to press send! :)

Isn't he the cutest? I'm loving his new Mustache!
After I finally got the response to the sponsor on time, (I was worried that I missed out when I realized I never sent the email!) I received the Mustachifier in the mail just a few days ago and it has to be the cutest thing that I've ever seen! Seeing a photo online is nothing compared to seeing the actual Mustachifier in person! I received the Gentleman pacifier (There are a few different Mustachifiers available, view at bottom) and couldn't wait until my newborn cousin came over! On my daughters' birthday party, I saw little Zade for the very first time! He's simple adorable, which made present time even better! When I gave my aunt the Mustachifier, I could see the excitement in her eyes! Gail and Theo are the fun and laughing type so I knew there would be no better family to give this awesome mustache pacifier to then them. Zade wasn't in the paci' mood at the party but Gail promised to send me photo's of Zade when he decided to be a hipster baby and wear a 'stach! The very next day I received the photos!! My kids were standing beside me and started laughing so hard that Loran was almost in tears! Zade looks so cute in his Mustachifier! I asked Gail what she thought of her cool baby gift and her response was "We love the pacifier! We've had people young and old laugh and talk about the Mustachifier and they've even said that Zade looks even more like his daddy now that he's rocking a 'stach!"

The Mustachifier has to be the most unique baby gift that I've ever seen and if I decide to have another baby soon, I'll be getting my baby a 'stach asap, Boy or girl, I'm not joking!!! I've also had my neighbor ask if I could get their son Mustachifier as well!! It's already a hit and I don't even have the pacifier  in my possession anymore! The photo's of Zade is all they need to fall in love with both my cousin and the Mustache Pacifier! This is such a cool baby gift! How funny would it be if every baby boy had a Mustachifier!! We'd be surrounded my little 'staches! :) I believe it would be awesome, and quiet funny!
The Mustachifier is wonderful!
My #1 choice for The 2013's Coolest Baby Item available during the Summer!!
These photo's are heading to the memory book for sure!!!

Other available Mustacheifier's are:
The Ladies Man
The Cowboy
The Gentleman
The Full Monty

Candler Elementary School - 1st Grade Supply List

Offering a Helping Hand to the Local Mom's on this wonderful
Mommy Monday!

Buying School Supplies -
The Easy Way! -

As many of you may know, I'm trying my best to get a head start this year when it comes to Back-To-School shopping. I have the tendency of falling behind and no one enjoys fighting other moms in the shopping isles 2 days before school starts! While taking a look at my daughters' supply lists, I came up with an awesome idea! Make a Mystikit with the Supply lists! Sunday Funday - Lets Relax

It's time to relax of this Sunday Funday!!
Today I have a nice recipe for Aromatic Tea Bag Bath Packs recipe for you that will not only help your skin stay soft but relax away your stress at the same time!

Aromatic Tea Bag Bath Packs

Create your own bath-time Tea Bags and surround yourself in invigorating scents. I remember making these and hanging them from the top of water spout while my bath was running! The smell was wonderful and I believe I recall running to my mama and telling her to feel my skin.. It was soft :)

You will need:
  • 1/2 cup of Fresh Herbs or flower petals or 1/4 cup of dried herbs or flowers
  • 2 Tablespoons of Oatmeal
  • Coffee Filters
  • String
Directions:

This is something that you will want to make alot at once so you can relax over and over without having to remake your Tea Bags before each bath. (Store them in an old jar on your bathroom counter for convenience as well as a pretty display!)

  • Lay out a coffee filter flat on your table
  • Add the herbs/flowers and oatmeal to the middle of the filter.
  • Pull the edged up around your herb mixture and tie the pouch closed extremely tightly and knotted with the string.
  • Cut the string long enough so it can be tied around your water spout.
  • Tie a Tea Bag around your spout so that the pouch is hanging where the water will flow directly on and through it.
  • Run a HOT bath, through your herb pouch.
  • Once your bath is ran - You can place your pouch into your bath or leave it on the spout until your bath is complete.
  • Dispose of each Aromatic Tea Bag after use.
