DIY Key Necklaces -- Create Unique Jewelry in a Matter if Minutes That Look AMAZING!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Create DIY Frugal Jewelry --

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Create Amazing Key Necklaces --
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that the Holiday's are just about over, how about creating something beautiful that you can not only wear but be proud of as well! Use your old un-used keys to make DIY Key Necklaces that'll amaze your friends and add the perfect addition to any outfit! This is also a good project to do with the kids, adult supervision is required due to the strength of glue that is needed.
Ring in the New Year with handmade jewelry that anyone and everyone would be proud to wear on a night on the town or a day out with the family!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- DIY Key Necklaces --
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Materials:
  • Random Keys (Old House keys, Car keys, Skeleton Keys, etc.)
  • Fancy and/or Neat Embellishments
  • E-6000 glue (Or other strong glue of your choice)
  • Jump ring
  • Necklace chain of your choice (Old necklace chain or purchase from a roll)
Instructions:
  1. Start off your DIY Key Project by collecting needed items: Gather up some old keys. (Check in your junk drawer - House keys can be surprisingly pretty and neat looking, especially the older ones. Skeleton keys are my favorite and are naturally elegant, not to mention their amazing vintage look. Even car-keys can be fancied up with awesome embellishments.)
  2. Then it's time to collect your embellishments. Maybe a rhinestone chain or imitation chain. You can also order some "bling on a roll" or find an old rhinestone necklace that's missing a few stones or such and can be cut up and re-purposed. Other embellishments may include: old earrings (with the backs removed), vintage brooches, gem stones, jewels, buttons, scrapbook embellishments (can be found at your local craft store) and pretty much anything else that happens to catch your eye and spark your creative interest.
  3. Make sure to clean your keys before you begin - Take some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or cloth and wipe down the surfaces of both - the keys and the embellishment(s). Doing so; helps remove grease and/or other residue that may prevent a good bond between the surface and glue.
  4. Fun Time.... Now your ready to start embellishing! -- As mentioned above: You can use any strong holding glue; E-6000 works wonderfully - it forms a really strong bond but doesn't set up immediately. Hot Glue will hold the item in place while the E-6000 sets in, or any other glue of your choice.
  5. Decorate the keys using your chosen embellishments. Continue until you're happy with the design(s) and look of your completed keys.
  6. Once the keys are decorated.... The real fun begins! -- Simply add a large jump ring (or small rings) to the keys and arrange them into different jewelry designs.

Frugal ways to Enhance your Beauty & Sooth Your Body & Soul

Today I have 2 recipes that I'm going to share with you that I've had since I was in Elementary School! I remember buying a DIY book from the Book Fair, I believe it was my 5th grade year, that was full of neat little DIY projects for "Tweens". I don't remember the name of the book but I did write the recipes down in a journal that I kept back then and I just happen to still have a few of my old journals!! Even though I bought the book when I was still a child, the projects and recipes are still just as interesting and fun, now that I'm an adult.
The recipes I'll be sharing today are to help you relax and stay beautiful! They are all very simple to make and don't cost very much at all!
Enjoy!

Pear Facial Mask

Pears are wonderful for moisturizing! The following recipe is a great soother for sun-drenched skin. It even works great on skin that has a bit of redness or blotches.
This recipe is enough for 1 mask

You will need:
  • 1 Ripe Pear
  • 1 Tablespoon of Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon of Light Cream of While Milk

Directions:
  • Peal and Core the Pear and Cut it into Small Pieces
  • In a small bowl - Mash the pear into a smooth paste
  • Stir in the Honey and Cream
  • Spread the mixture over your face and neck - Keep the mask away from your eyes
  • Lay back and relax with your eyes closed for about 20 to 30 minutes
  • Rinse with Warm Water - Splash with Cool Water - Pat your face dry.

**Using Milk and Cream to keep your skin milky-smooth (haha love the milky addition :) Couldn't help myself!) is an old Southern beauty trick?

Honey-Vanilla Bath and Footsie Soak

If your skin isn't soft enough for you from the top two recipes, this body soak will quickly do the trick! You'll feel completely relaxed when your surrounded in the oh-so-heavenly scent of honey and vanilla that will follow you  long after your bath is complete.

You will need:
  • 1/2 cup of Baby Oil or Mineral Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Honey
  • 1/2 cup of Unscented liquid soap
  • 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
A Squeeze bottle to store your soak in. (A honey-bear is the perfect bottle and looks super adorable sitting on your bathroom counter or tub!)

Directions:
  • Mix all ingredients together until the honey completely dissolves.
  • Pour all contents into the squeeze bottle.
  • Shake the mixture before each use
  • For Baths -- Use about 1/4 cup
  • For Foot Soak -- 2 or 3 Squirts
I hope you enjoy your Beauty Treatments and save all kinds of that hard money this weekend!
If you have a daughter, these recipes would be a great addition to a Mommy-Daughter Day! You can give each other the Spa Treatment!!
My daughters come home from being at their Mawmaw's house for a week and a half and I'm planning to have an All girl's night once their daddy goes to work tomorrow night!! :) I can't wait!!

Planning an All Girls Sleep-Over?
Turn it into a spa night!
Serve up Fruit and Flavored Water while the girls are all laid back with a Pear Mask, Cucumber Eyes and their feet soaking in a nice, warm Honey Vanilla Foot Soak!
I believe you would end up with a Slumber Party Success!

12 Ways to Reuse an Old Jelly Jar

What On Earth Can You Make With An Old Jelly Jar?

Have you ever wondered how many ways you can reuse an old jar? The possibilities are endless!!! I've created a small list of the idea's that I can think of. If you know of any more ways to reuse an old jar, that I don't have on my list, Feel free to comment them below and I'll grow my list with your ideas! Of course I'll add your name by your idea so everyone gets the proper credit :) You don't have to use an old jar, an empty Jelly Jar works just as well. Together we can keep useful things out of our land-fields!
Lets Turn Trash into Treasure!!
  • Drinking Glass -- Make sure it is 100% clean and sterilized before drinking out of any old jar that you find at thrift stores.
  • Vase for Flowers -- Make sure it's clean enough and has no residue of any chemical that can hurt the flowers.
  • Bait Jar -- For Fishing Trips - Have the kids run around searching for worms! Add a bit of dirt to the jar and once the kids find a worm, they can add it straight to the jar and once it's full, you just grab the jar and head to the water!
  • Watering Jar -- Easy to keep sitting on the counter or window seal to quickly grab and water small inside or outside plants.
  • Food Storage -- If you have the lid to the jar, you can use it to store leftovers. (Wash thoroughly)
  • Storage Container -- Store ingredients in the jar to help organize your pantry.
  • Gift Idea -- Fill up with Hot Chocolate mix, Add a few small marshmallows to top, Tie a ribbon around it, Pair a Drinking Mug with the Jar of Hot Choc. and gift as a gift during the cold months. (You can also do this with the dry ingredients in recipes)
  • Collection Jar -- Store your favorite collection of small items so you can not only store them but display them as well. (marbles, polly pocket, legos, bouncy balls, Silly Bands, Etc.)
  • Pencil Holder -- Decorate with your craft supplies to give the jar a personalized touch and so it don't just bare and plain! (I use to make these all the time! FUN!)
  • Cookie Cutter -- Use the top of the jar as a Cookie Cutter.
  • Candle Holder -- If you have the tall stick candles - Stand the candle up in the middle of the jar, Make sure the candle is a good bit taller than the jar - While holding the candle straight up, Pour marbles, colored gravel, Sand or other small contents - To fill in the empty space and hold the candle up. If there is a chance that the filler could melt if the flame got too close, Don't let the candler get more than 1 inch away from the filler (Maybe less, depending on that you use) You can even use small legos or potpourri  as long as you watch the flame.
  • Piggy Bank -- Use the jar to keep up with your loose change. It's a great way to save a little bit of money (every penny counts and adds up fast). You can decorate the jar or leave it clear. If you have the lid - Cut a small slice in the middle of the lid that is a little bit wider than a Quarter and no longer than the length of a dollar bill - when folded in 1/2 twice. My daughters had a big jar that we were collecting change in but they decided, early one morning, that the change would be used better to play with than to save :) Gotta love those girls!! Kids are so fun and full of trouble hehe :P
So, what did you think of my list?
Do you know of anymore idea's for reusing an old glass jar?
Leave your ideas in the comments and I'll add them to my post - with proper credit giving. (Make sure you leave your blog or social media link with your idea comment if you would like credit when I add the ideas to my post.)

Dirt Broke Gourmet - Land Crab Salad

**Hip Hip Hooray for Dirt Broke Gourmet!**
haha that rhymes.. it made me giggle :-D

A month or so ago, I won an awesome giveaway on the Dirt Broke Gourmet Facebook page and ended up winning 5 unique Dip Mixes of my choice! I ran across Dirt Broke Gourmet when I saw a random notification in my Facebook newsfeed from where someone had liked their photo. I noticed the page name "Dirt Broke Gourmet" and then once I saw the profile picture, I had to go see what this page was all about. To understand what caught my eye... Glance up at the little crazy man with his pockets turned out, in the drawing above... Lets just say that - I was curious. I ended up really enjoying what I found and was quiet surprised. (Explained below) I even entered a few giveaways that they were having and never expected to win but was super excited when I did!!
The rest of the story..... Is your reading material for today,
Enjoy!

(Names Listed Below
Starts at left-top
Ends at right-bottom)

The Mixes that I chose were:
  • That Dip
  • Land Crab
  • Fully Loaded Potato Dip
  • Hey Whitey
  • She's Got Crabs
Yes I know the flavor names are a bit odd but I love it!! Makes things unique and adds some new interest to what could of been a lame named mix!
Dirt Broke Gourmet is no where near lame.... Their pretty awesome!
I'll explain...

If you've never heard of Dirt Broke Gourmet then I strongly suggest that you check them out soon! They sale all kinds of mixes for just about everything, including -- Cheesecake, Dips, Drinks, Breads, Cookies, Pickler Kits, Main and Side Dishes, Popcorn Seasonings and SOOOOOOOOO much more!!! Dirt Broke Gourmet has so many options to chose from that I can't type them all up! Their prices are extremely cheap.... hence the name - Dirt Broke. Not to mention that their highest shipping charge is only $11!!!!

To tell you a little more about them, I've copied some wording that I found on their website:

"Welcome to Dirt Broke Gourmet! How Dirt Broke Gourmet started was 14 years ago when we did farmers’ markets, as a family of 4 I could only can and freeze so much of the left over market veggies. So the first dip was born! We would take our left over market veggies dry them add some other spices. Our first dip was radish dip. We would make these dips and when someone would buy some veggies they would get a free dip! This went over very well! Then in 2007 we lost our farm to a foreclosure. We lost everything we had! At the end of 2007 our market customers came to us and told us we should market our dips! They liked them that much! So then Dirt Broke Gourmet was born! We figured there was only one name for it! And with a name of Dirt Broke we keep our prices so everyone can  enjoy a treat! A couple of years after us selling our dips one of our customers came to us and wanted to start selling our products! So then the Dirt broke Gourmet consultants were born! And today we have consultants in many states. And more states adding daily. At Dirt Broke Gourmet we have fun no matter where we are, a Dirt Broke Party, craft show, or even our Dirt Broke meetings! Come and join our team today!
Thanks for reading our story God Bless!"

I decided to try the "Land Crab Mix" first. "Land Crab" is Chicken, if you didn't already figure that out. (I love the odd names, it makes things fun!)

The regular directions for the "Land Crab" Dip are printed on the back label (in photo above) but I wanted to try something different. Since I'm a HUGE chicken fan and have turned both of my daughters into chicken fans as well, I decided to mix a little of the Dip Mix into some shredded chicken!

* Dirt Broke - Land Crab Salad *
  • I started by opening up and draining a can of shredded chicken and put it into a medium sized bowl.
  • I then poured a small amount of "Land Crab" Mix into the chicken as well as a small amount of mayonnaise. (It all depends on how thick or creamy you like it) I didn't add alot of both ingredients - I wanted to save some dip mix for a later food project.
  • I then mixed it all together and added the chicken mix to some bread and made us a few Land Crab Sandwiches!
It was a wonderful, quick lunch for my daughters and I since my fiance was working all night. You could taste many flavors and even catch a crunch of - what I thought of as - either Onion or Garlic. I loved it and went back for more, my daughters ate seconds too!!  We ended up all eating one sandwich and then had a bit of the chicken mix by itself as well.... It tasted great either way and was gone before we knew it! I can't wait to make some more soon!
We call it our "Dirt Broke - Land Crab Salad!"
(It's our quick and cheap version since we didn't add any extras.)

We haven't tried the other mixes yet but I'm sure we'll figure out a way to use those in a different way as well!!! I wonder how delicious those will be!? I'm looking forward to finding some NON-SPICY crab meat so I can try our "She's Got Crabs" Dip Mix! YUM! If you've never tried any of Dirt Broke Gourmet's awesome dips and mixes, then I personally suggest you to check out their site or facebook page and be amazed!! I've never seen or heard of a similar brand like Dirt Broke and I'm super glad that I randomly ran across them! The names may catch you by surprise but that's what makes them stand out!

Their Unique!

Don't forget their motto...
"When Life Sucks - Just Dip It!"

Have you ever heard of Dirt Broke Gourmet before now?
and
What's your opinion of the choices made by Dirt Broke Gourmet for Flavor Names?
It's a question that's screaming to be asked! :)

Make sure you visit Dirt Broke Gourmet on Facebook!!
They have all kinds of fun things going on!
Tell them Autumn from My Kind Of Introduction sent you!!

This is not a sponsored post. I won the mentioned products fair and square and personally decided to brag to all my friends (aka my readers/followers) about how cool I believe Dirt Broke Gourmet is.
