Squooshi Reusable Food Pouches - Healthy Goodness On-the-go - A Parents New BFF

Sponsored by USFG and +Squooshi

Squooshi

It's been a little while since I've posted a review on my blog and I regret that I've fallen so far behind throughout these past 4 or 5 months. Life has changed drastically for my family and it's been quite tough to keep up with everything that I had going on during the end of last year (2013). I'm still not 100% back on feet yet and struggle daily but I believe that if I start focusing my time back on work then I can get through these rough times and start getting my life back together again. I want to apologize to everyone for deserting you all and I promise to do better from now on. Thank you for the ones who never gave up on me and continue to stand by "My Kind Of Introduction" as well as myself. I appreciate you all more than I'll ever be able to fully express!!

Now lets get down to business.....

Being a parent is such a joyful experience that I'd never give up for anything in the world, but there are always those challenges that make my head hurt.
For example: Making sure my children eat healthy without having to sneak in the healthy foods or fight my child over the potato chips.
Having that said - I was super excited when I received a package last month that claimed to hold the answer to my troubles, 3 Squooshi pouches for me to test out with my girls.

I'll be happy to explain:

A Squooshi is a refillable, dishwasher safe food pouch that's used for squishing up fresh fruit, vegetables and more for children! They come in many cute designs that children love and can take ANYWHERE they desire (school, park, car, daycare etc.)

We've all seen the squeeze packs at the supermarket that contain the apple sauce mixtures and squished fruit flavors, right? I believe they first showed up with a few flavor choices, in the toddler section, they have twisty caps used for resealing. Today you can find a variety of brands and flavors, not only in the toddler section but in the fruit section as well. They range in price from $1 - $3.99 each and come in all kinds of different flavor combinations. Not to mention that they're enjoyed by children as young as age 1 as well as kids ages 8 and up! (My daughters, who are now at the ages of 7 & 8, enjoy eating them for a quick snack while their outside playing with friends!) The only downfall about these fruit pouches is that they're not refillable and have the tendency to be eaten up pretty darn fast!!

That's why the idea of a washable, reusable pouch is so wonderful! Squooshi pouches can be easily filled with any soft and/or squishable food that your child may request, the fun part is creating their own flavors by adding a few different fruits together inside the pouch, maybe even a veggie or two!

When it comes to actually squishing the fruits, you can do it one of two ways:

  1. Manually squish the fruits by hand once the fruit is added and the pouch is securely closed using the zipper at the bottom of the Squooshi (Just make sure you don't overfill the pouch which can cause the zipper to pop open and fruit to go everywhere).
  2. You can also use a blender or food processor to get the fruit and vegetables to the right "applesauce-like texture." (As long as you don't go too far and wind up with more of a juice other than a thick squish.)

What I love most about these amazing pouches is that clean-up is as simple as loading the dishwasher - since Squooshi reusable food pouches are 100% dishwasher safe! Jade and Loran have always been fans of those store bought fruit squishes and now they absolutely love being able to experiment with different foods to create their very own flavor creations! I no longer have to worry about my girls eating healthy since Squooshi's can be eaten for Breakfast, on the go, for snacks and so much more!! The strong zipable bottoms and the tight fitting lid are great and who could forget those adorable animals that make Squooshi's a one of a kind treat that even the oldest enjoy.

You may also like to know:
• Squooshi reusable food pouches are not only BPA-free but are also PVC-free, Lead-free & Phthalate-free.

• Can be filled with applesauce, smoothies, fruit, grain, veggies, homemade baby food, yogurt, oatmeal and pretty much anything that's squishy or can be squished!
• For best results, fill Squooshi pouches to about ¾ full, depending on content.

Smelling like Bacon is NOT okay....

Stupid.com - Crazy Gifts Under $20

Don't go bacon my heart... I couldn't if I fried.Do you have a "Love for Bacon" or a "Bacon Obsession"?

Eating bacon everyday, and loving every bite, is perfectly normal these days.
But once you start smelling like bacon... Seek help immediately!!

Don't get me wrong, I love bacon just as much as the next guy. Come to think of it -- I'd take a pure bacon sandwich over a BLT any day!! But I can guarantee that you will NEVER catch me using bacon flavored lip balm, weird bacon scented spray or any other random bacon flavored/scented oddity!

People in America have been obsessing over bacon for many years (Since the year 1500 B.C. to be exact) and it seems like this meaty obsession is only getting worse by the day. Rumor has it that Americans eat over 18 pounds of bacon per year - 70% is eaten for Breakfast, 11% for Lunch, 17% for Supper and 2% is eaten as a Snack but that's only the beginning...

A survey conducted by Maple Leafs Food discovered that among the people surveyed:
43% would rather have bacon then sex
23% of men claim that bacon is their favorite fragrance
23% often wonder if "Does my partner love bacon more than me?"

The time has come that strickly eating this yummy strip of meat is no longer the only option for bacon lovers!
Bacon Lube and Massage Oil
Need some Bacon
Flavored
Massaging Oil
& Lube?

Are you brave enough to try out some bacon flavored toothpaste with a side of bacon flavored floss? This is NO joke...... Just about everything you could possibly dream of is available in bacon flavor and honestly - I believe it's completely insane - Even those we all have that one friend who is crazy for bacon and wouldn't see a thing wrong with using some good ol' Bacon Soap and finishing off with a nice and meaty Bacon Shave........

- I couldn't believe what all I ran across that either Smelt like bacon, tasted like bacon or looked like bacon!! I had no idea that there was so much stuff available with a Bacon Flavor and/or the "bacon-look" - Would you buy any of them?
If so... Is the bacon craving your own or someone you know?

You can find all of the below items, plus so much more (bacon & non-bacon), by visiting 2 of my new favorite online retailers of Gag Gifts: Stupid.com and FunSlurp.com. Both sites are packed full of unique, fun and quite interesting gag gifts for the whole family!

Healthy Snacking with All Natural SoyJoy

★All Natural SoyJoy Bars★
Sponsored by Influenser & SoyJoy

★#VioletVoxBox★

Start out 2014 with a step in a healthier direction!

Happy New Year!
I know I'm a bit late with the New Years greetings but better late then never right?! I hope everyone has had a wonderful beginning to 2014, mine has been pretty decent, especially when you factor in our current living situation, which is a bit stressful at times. Yes, it gets hectic at times but I'm extremely grateful to have such wonderful friends.

Now that it's 2014, it's time to set up some goals so you can keep all of those New Year Resolutions that you made. If you plan on exploring a healthier lifestyle then I highly recommend trying out All Natural SoyJoy bars. With just 6 grams of fat, SoyJoy bars are extremely healthy and surprising delicious.

When I realized that my #VioletVoxBox was hiding a SoyJoy bar inside, I didn't really know what to think. I'd never ate anything that was made from soy before so I didn't know what to expect of this little Dark Chocolate Cherry SoyJoy bar, but with a flavor combination like that, I had to give it a try.

A few nights ago, while waiting on my fiance to get home from work, I got a little hungry and since I didn't want to make a lot of noise in the kitchen with it being 1am, I reached for my Influenser #VioletVoxBox and headed for the SoyJoy bar!
When I opened the pack, I was amused to see a slim rectangular bar with visible fruit pieces inside. I took my first bite with caution and even though it had a unique flavor that I wasn't use too, it was yummy! The unique flavor was the soy, which I'd never tried before but was pretty pleased with the taste. Not to mention the combined flavors of chocolate and cherry that added to the yumminess! My taste buds were surprisingly happy and knowing that my after midnight snack was a healthy one, made things even better!

SoyJoy bars are baked with ground whole soy as well as real fruit with no artificial colors, flavors, hydrogenated oils or gluten! Amazing right?!
I'm not a big healthy eater but I woulld definitely eat another SoyJoy bar - I wouldn't mind tasting a different flavor though, because having variety is a wonderful thing!

I honestly would of never tried SoyJoy bars if it wasn't for my #VioletVoxBox! They find some of the coolest products to fill those little boxes with!! I love it! Who would of thought that I would end up enjoying the taste of SoyJoy bars?
I highly recommend trying one of these awesome lil' bars. Don't let the soy scare you off, I promise that you'll be amazed!

Don't know where to find SoyJoy bars? Check them out on the SoyJoy website for more flavors, information and so much more!

How Do Other Countries Use Food to Celebrate their Holiday's?

Feasts Around the World with Little Passports

In America, Thanksgiving is a holiday that is loved by all and revolves around giving thanks and chowing down on foods like turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie, but it’s not the only holiday that requires an appetite. Come on a trip with Little Passports and teach your kids about other food-filled holidays from around the world and see just how other countries use food to celebrate.

Iran:
Nowruz, the Persian New Year, takes place in March and is a celebration of the first day of spring. All of the food that gets eaten during Nowruz are chosen specifically for this celebration and are said to evoke spring and renewal as well as welcoming the coming year. One of the more meaningful dishes is Ash-e reshteh, a noodle soup made with spinach and green herbs. It's said that untangling the noodles as you eat will bring you good fortune in the upcoming year. Another one of Nowruz's traditional dishes, (sabzi pollo mahi), lays fish alongside a bed of herb-coated rice. The fish represents "abundance" and the herb filled green rice stands for the greenness of nature in the spring. Other dishes served at Nowruz include lamb and rice-stuffed grape leaves (dolmeh barg) and a green herb-filled omelet (kookoo sabzi). YUM!!!

Haggis
The United Kingdom:
Though he lived over 200 years ago, Robert “Bobby” Burns is a Scottish poet who is so beloved in the United Kingdom that his birthday is celebrated as “Burns Night” every year. Around January 25th, people across the United Kingdom gather for “Burns suppers” and read Burns’ poetry aloud while feasting on Scottish dish haggis, which was one of Burns’ favorite foods. Haggis is chopped sheep heart, lungs, liver, oatmeal, onion, and spices stuffed and cooked in a sheep’s stomach! Burns thought haggis was so delicious, he wrote an entire poem about it called “Address to a Haggis.” (I personally believe that I'll past on this dish, what about you?)

Sweden/Denmark/Finland:

Quickly becoming the most celebrated holiday outside New Year and Christmas for Sweden, Midsummer’s Eve is the time when Scandinavians celebrate the longest day of the year. Midsummer’s Eve takes place during the summer solstice, which is around June 21st. On this holiday, traditional songs are sung, people dance around a decorated pole called the “midsommarstang,” and everyone feasts. One of the most popular Midsummer’s Eve foods is a kind of fish, called herring, that is pickled with mustard and onions and served with boiled new potatoes, sour cream, dill, and chopped boiled eggs. Swedish meatballs, sausage, grilled meats, strawberries and cheese pie are also traditional dishes to eat on Midsummer’s Eve.

Korea:
The largest and most important holiday in Korea is the harvest festival, Chuseok. This year, on September 18th, Chuseok celebrations took place over three days and involved visiting with family, giving thanks to ancestors, and lots of dancing. Braised beef shortribs (Galbi jjim), a savory pancake (jeon), and a sweet potato noodle dish (japchae) are foods that are commonly seen during Chuseok, but because rice is one of the crops celebrated during the harvest festival, the rice cake songpyeon is the main food of Chueseok. Songpyeon is made from kneaded rice flour, stuffed with chestnuts, red beans, and/or sesame seeds before being steamed over pine needles. Korean families gather to create songpyeon together and see who can make the prettiest shape!!

Greece:

On the Greek island of Cyprus, preparation for Lent lasts over two weeks of feasting. Because people stay away from meat during Lent, one full week before Lent, is dedicated to eating large amounts of meat and another week dedicated to eating cheese! (Surprising right?! Almost hard to believe!) The week of meat is known as “Kreatini.” Traditional Kreatini dishes consist of pork stew (afelia), lamb skewers, that have been marinated and grilled (souvlaki) as well as a dish of baked lamb, tomatoes, onions, and potatoes (tavva). During Tyrini, the week of cheese, people eat a variety of sweet and savory cheese-filled pastries (bourekia), cheese cookies topped with herbs, bread filled with Halloumi cheese, and ravioli stuffed with local, fresh cheese. I'll admit that I'm a HUGE Meat and Cheese fan but a full week of each is a bit overboard, if you ask me. But if I was from Greece then I'm sure I would love it!

Little Passports will take your whole family on a trip across the world and teach your kids unique information to help their brains grow. Your brain may even grow a bit as well!! Subscriptions start at just $10.95 per month and provide an entertained and unique learning experience for your children!
