13 Things Your Toddler Can Do But You Can't.... #7 gives me stage fright

Does any of this sound slightly familiar to the moms in the world?
Numbers 7 & 10 are my favorite!
Which one(s) made you giggle?

Toddler vs Parent
The demographic above was found in a Facebook post via unknown account. Photo originally belonging to NickMom

Do you ever feel slightly jealous over tasks & activities that you're no longer able to do... While the kids know no struggle.... Making mommy jealous while wearing one of those "Mean Girl" smirks that makes you start to wonder about the thoughts running through that tiny head of theirs. Something like: "I bet money she's thinking -Haha Mommy! I can do this but you can't!! Ha ha ha ha ha!" Or possibly "It's not my fault mommy can't fit in the park swings anymore... But I'm not complaining..."

Toddler vs Parent
The struggle is real!!!

10 Parenting Life Hacks to Help Ease Your SuperMom Brains

We should be allowed to add Super-Parent to our resumes since I'm sure that everyone will agree that it's one of the hardest jobs that we'll ever take on! Right? It's time to give those super-capes a break by trying out some of these neat parenting hacks while adding a bit of fun to our routines, for both mommy and child.

(1)
For better handwriting, send the kids out to play on the monkey bars!

(2)
Let the kids "join in" on your video gaming by giving them controllers that aren't hooked up! (My fiance and I use to do this with our girls all the time!)

(Source: www.lifehack.org)

(3)
Trace your child's feet onto a sheet of paper and keep it in your purse, no longer do you have to have your child with you when shoe shopping!

(4)
Freeze a pacifier in a bottle lid with water, juice, formula, etc to help sooth a teething baby.

(5)
Store your babies pacifier in little plastic containers with lids to help keep germs and dirt out of your child's mouth.

(6)
Make a few simple cuts to create the PERFECT SANDWICH!!!

(7)
Turn your child's old crib into a new and useable desk! Isn't this absolutely wonderful?

(8)
Attach a self-stick hook to the back of your toddler's high-chair to help you keep up with clean bibs.

(9)
Change up your punishing method a bit: Fill a bottle about 3/4 full with water. Add a bottle of glitter glue as well as ultra-fine glitter. Flip the bottle or give it a little shake. When the glitter settles... TIME-OUT IS OVER!

(10)
Finally there's a solution to the waiting game of heating up more than one bowl in a regular sized microwave... USE A CUP!

The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting

Not Potty Trained - Not trying!

love reading, but sometimes I have to be in the mood for reading or the book has to be extremely interesting before I can spend alot of time with a book in my hand.
I’ve been reading a bit more than normal here lately and I’ve come to realize that I have a lot more time on my hands since my kids are out of town. The book I’ve been getting into is called The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting. It’s actually very funny and I’m surprised that I’ve gotten into it as much as I have. I’m normally more of a Fantasy Book kind of girl but The Honest Toddler is a one of a kind book that I have a hard time putting down! One of my favorite things about the book is the letters written to and from “The Honest Toddler” along with the Homework assignments that HT likes to give. It’s not your normal homework either…. It’s stuff like:

  • “Slow down on the bad ideas”

or one of my favs…

  • ”Go to the grocery store with your child at 5:30pm. When the loud response starts, scream, “EVERYONE SHUT UP, I NEED TO HELP MY CHILD.” - Then open four large bags of chips and a juice box. Let your child feast.”

How fun does that grocery store assignment sound? I bet I would have LOTS of odd looks coming my way but I would be laughing to hard to notice and my kids would be chowing down on the chips J Truthfully, so would I!!

While glancing  at the back of The Honest Toddler, I learned that the book was based on Bunmi Laditan’s (the author) youngest daughter. The description of The Honest Toddler made me giggle -- Not potty trained, not trying, enjoys attention, cake, television, running and games.  Reminds me of my girls a few years ago. Their not toddlers anymore but we still have many “loud responses” (HT‘s replacement for Tantrums) in stores, at home and wherever else my daughters decide to let it all out at.  While reading the book, I actually did realize that even though I may be taking advice from a “Toddler”, I do need to calm down on my yelling and start realizing that I am the problem a lot of the times when I jus happen to get upset with my girls are blame them for something that I NOW know… is my fault. I enjoyed reading The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting more than I thought I would. Like mentioned above, I couldn't get enough of the Homework and the letters written to and from HT (Honest Toddler) are hilarious! One of my favorite letters is:

Dear Honest Toddler.
Do you know where I can find toddler-sized ‘80s rock band concert tees? I’m trying to look worldly.
Sincerely, Trying Hard in West Virginia

  • The response from the Honest Toddler:

Dear Trying,
Your toddler is not a living memorial to your interest. You’re embarrassing yourself.
Love, HT

HT even gives her opinion on Amber Necklaces, Potty Training and many other things that parents (including myself) like to believe is right and/or helps our child, when in reality…. Most of them are just a waste of money and time. HT has a strong opinion on the life of raising a young child and even if your child is no longer a toddler, I recommend you read The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting! I guarantee that you will not only pee yourself due to extreme laughter but you will learn something as well! The Honest Toddler gets a BIG Thumbs up from me and it has done wonders when it came to keeping my mind off my daughters being at their MawMaws this past week! I couldn’t of asked for a better read!

Tearing Up with ClubDaddy -- My Fiance's Story

Earlier this year, I did a promotion for DaddyScrubs on my blog. (I did a review and giveaway of their signature product... the DaddyScrubs themselves!) I got the chance to pick out a pair of the scrubs for Alan and let him review them for me. The girls LOVED it when he wore his green DaddyScrubs with the words “I'm The Daddy” printed on the back! I ended up taking a photo of Alan and the girls in the field across the street, with the girls pointing and showing excitement toward their daddy's new outfit! I sent the photo to my contact for DaddyScrubs and ended up getting a reply saying that they would love to add Alan to ClubDaddy! I wasn't sure what exactly that meant except that the photo was going to be added to their albums and shared with their fans on social media (mainly Facebook). I also received a couple interview questions that Alan was suppose to answer that we completely forgot about (I'll have him answer the interview questions soon, even though it's very late. I'll just post his answers on my blog instead of sending them to DaddyScrubs since they would be about a month overdue!!) Realizing that I forgot about the interview questions, I received an email that said my package has been sent.... I got confused but quickly got side tracked and DaddyScrubs didn't cross my mind again until Alan walked up to me one day with a box asking if I had ordered something for him that he wasn't suppose to know about! I had no clue what was in that box and was extremely surprised when Alan started opening it! Not only did I tear up (like always) but Alan did too! Being appreciated for all the hard work he puts in for our family, really touched him! He has 5 kids, including our 2 daughters. CW is 14, MJ is 10, Bre is 11(who we NEVER see and probably won't for MANY years! That's a different post for another day...), Loran will be 7 in less than 2 weeks and then there's Jade who just turned 6! Even though Alan don't get to see his boys as much he likes, they both know that their daddy loves them. I couldn't of chosen a better father for my daughters! He's truly a wonderful man in many different ways!

Our Family
(A couple years ago - We need to take a new one soon!)

Read below to hear what Alan thought of his package, in his own words:

“About a week or so ago I came in from work not having the greatest day but it wasn't a BAD day... it could have been worse. I was home for a couple hours when the UPS man came knocking at the door. I figured it was something for Autumn since she gets packages all the time, but she was in the back room, so I opened the door. To my surprise, the big box was for me! I went and asked Autumn if she had ordered anything that I wasn't suppose to know about since I knew I hadn't ordered anything lately. She said No and we checked the label to see who the package was from. It was from DaddyScrubs. I got put into a daddy club somehow, not sure how but I did. In the box I found a certificate saying “Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy!“ Along with the certificate came a pair of sunglasses, a coffee cup, a $10 gift card, a water bottle and 2 bracelets from DaddyScrubs. It made my day a lot better, I even teared up a couple times through out the afternoon. I was so happy that I ran down the hill to one of my neighbors house, that I am pretty good friends with, and told them all about it. It was one of the best days I have had in my life, made me feel like a million bucks. The bracelets have been on my wrist ever since I got the package. Not many people see everything I do for my family. I bust my butt working 2 jobs just to try to make ends meet and sometimes it don't feel like anyone notices. So this made me feel very happy to see that someone sees I am. To me, I am the best father out there! Still over a week later and I still smile when I look down and see my bracelets or when I walk in the house and see my certificate. I placed it on my wall in a spot to where I can see when I walk in my house or when I am on my couch. It really made me feel a lot better about being a parent. Glad to see that some people want to recognize fathers, for once!”
