Make your own Silly Mustache
- DIY Silly Mustaches -
For some really odd and kind of cool reason, Mustaches are extremely popular these days.
But I'm not talking about the ones on your face... well... Not really...
(Even though I saw a really cool handlebar mustache on a guy a few weeks ago... I couldn't help but stair, it made it even funnier that it was a husband to the girl babysitting a kid my daughters use to play with)
Fake Mustaches hit the fashion world at full speed and are now the coolest thing since the Polka Dot Bikini!
You can find them on shirts, ties, baby attire (I saw the coolest paci that was clear with a big plastic, brown mustache on it!! haha Coolest baby EVER!)
My daughters and I felt left out of the newest trend and decided to join in....

I make 3 mustaches but by the time I was ready to take pictures of them, the girls had lost theirs. This is my mustache :-) |
What do you think??

Jade and I with our mustaches |
The mustaches are very easy to make.
To make your own, follow the few easy directions below!
All I used was Black Paper, Pipe Cleaners, Scissors, Tape and a Pencil
Draw a mustache on a piece of black or brown paper.
Cut out your mustache(s)
Cut a Pipe Cleaner in half and tape to the back of your mustache (The side of your pencil markings)
You can tape it in the center like I did or on the side.
Since I used a pipe cleaner, I was later able to bed the pipe cleaner to the side so the handle didn't cover up our mouths.

My Best Friend, Dustin, playing with the mustache after I bent the pipe cleaner to the side. |
We have had lots of fun with our mustaches and I'm sure you will too.
Get silly and have some fun!

DIY Dollhouse Dolls
DIY Dollhouse Dolls
My daughter had a project for school where she had to make something useful or artistic out of recyclables. It was to be a Family Project, Jade and I chose a dollhouse. Little did I realize at that moment that if you make a doll house.... You have to make furniture also.... And Dolls....
Throughout this week, I'll be sharing with you how I made each item. Some were easy to make and some took a bit more thought. I hope you enjoy our doll house.
The Dolls were the last thing we made but I'll be sharing them with you first.
I started by drawing a little bald person on a piece of cardboard. I made the people with dresses because they were for my daughters and they had done decided that the beds in the doll house was theirs, so I needed to little girl dolls.
After I got the girls drawn, I cut them out.
I wasn't sure how I was doing to decorate the dolls when I first made them. I came up with a few different ideas like cutting faces out of a magazine along with a dress or making a dress out of fabric. And then it hit me....... USE A SCHOOL PICTURE!!!! What better way to make Jade and Loran then use a picture of their face for the dolls face!
I cut out their heads, trimmed the cardboard head to fit behind the photo face and glued it on.
Then I found some wire ribbon and cut the wire off the bottom of a medium size piece and started wrapping it around the bottom of the dress. I use hot glue to hold it in place.
For the top of one dress, I use 2 triangles and made a tank-top. I cut a different tank-top for the other dress so they would be a bit different. I used a glue stick to secure the tops on.
To make them stand up I use a scrap piece of cardboard and placed it between their feet. I had to fold one in half to make it thick enough for one of the girls.
Easy and ADORABLE!!!!
Don't you agree??
You can also make boys dolls for those castles and towns. maybe dress them up as Knights or Cowboys and Indians!
If you come up with other ways to make little dolls, let me know!!! I'd love to see your ideas!

Dress-Up is not all glitter & glam... Boys can dress-up too!

Costume Ideas:
- To make a Cowboy Costume you could use a wore out pair of jeans, a flannel shirt, a brown vest, cowboy boots and hat and maybe a belt. (You can find cow-boy belts with plastic guns at The Dollar Tree)
- For a Mad Scientist you can use a pair of white cloth pants, an over sized button up white shirt (maybe a chefs coat). Add some black framed glasses and a few glass or plastic vases as the potion beakers.
- The options are endless!!
Don't forget the flea markets!
Anything is possible when you get creative!
- If you like the Halloween Costume idea for dress-up clothes, wait until early November to buy the costumes. That's when the stores start their Halloween Sales to get rid of all the extra Halloween costumes and decorations so they can start getting ready for Thanksgiving. You can get costumes for just a few dollars! I like to buy a few of them when they're on sale and put a couple up for Christmas presents.
My step-son now has his very own dress-up collection without a single girlie touch! We found a cape, things for a fireman, an army man, and a ninja - just to name s few. He's happy and that's dll the matters! My kids play for hours, running around in their new dress-up clothes.
Watching that boy enjoy every ounce of playing dress-up with his sisters is why I whole-heartily believe that everyone dreams of s different life and playing dress-up is the perfect way to help dreams come true!
“Dress-up being for Girls Only" is nothing but huge myth.
Boys pretend too!
You can also find lots of retailers on & offline that sale a variety clothing designs to insure each creative idea with the prefect outfit for play! Make-believe is for everyone....
Boys and Girls, no matter the age!
The local costume store is an obviously great choice to find perfect add-on items to complete the look!
Get creative and use that fabulous brain of yours!!
Anyone up for a dress-up session?

5 Ways to Play With a FlashLight
5 Ways To Play With Flashlights
Mental Map: In the dark, test your kids' memories of where things are. Say "find the fireplace" and have them shine the flashlight on it.
Starry Night: Turn out the lights and shine a flashlight through a colander on the ceiling to make your own solar system.
Stomp The Dot: In dim light, have the kids run around trying to catch the beam you shine on the floor (I think it would be soooo funny to watch my kids run around chasing a light dot across the floor HAHA!!!!)
Puppet Parade: Search for animal silhouettes online, print them onto card stock and cut them out. Tape each animal to a stick, making puppets. Shine the flashlight on the puppet to create a shadow on the wall.
Guess What: Use a flashlight to "draw" a shape on the wall or ceiling. See if your kids can guess what you drew.
Do you have any other flashlight games?
