The #LabelitDontLoseIt Back-To-School Giveaway

Welcome to the "Label it Don't Lose It"
Back-To-School Giveaway!
Hosted by My Kind Of Introduction
Sponsored by Kidecals

Every mother knows that keeping up with your child's belongings is not an easy task, no matter how old they are. Stuff starts going missing about 10 minutes after you hand them their first pacifier and toy. It don't start getting serious until you enroll your child in school, or in some cases, daycare. As soon as you drop your little angel off, your sure to be missing something  within a week. Until now! Kidecals labels are made to make sure that everyone knows what belongings, belong to your child. They literally have their name written all over them, well not actually all over them but they are labeled in a way that not only you can be happy with them... your child will be too. Kidecals Labels are water-proof, dryer-proof as well as dishwasher-proof and they will sick to any surface! Did I mention that you can choose from several different designs, for all ages and occasions... even adults? Personalize the labels to say anything you like. For example: Your Child's Name, School, Address, even a phone number, the choice is yours. If your child is allergic to something and you want to make sure that everyone around them knows about it - Kidecals has labels for that too!! I even got some business labels for myself!  You'll be sure to find a design that will fit everyone's style, even picky teenagers.

Kidecals has so much more to offer - Find out by reading my full Kidecals Review!!

Making a Post Card from a Gummie Box

Valentines Day Greeting Cards from Treat

Home-Made Postcards!

I don't know about you but I love getting mail! Of course I don't love getting bills but regular mail like products I buy, samples and maybe even the letter or 2. Not many people use snail-mail anymore, it's all went to email and facebook messages. Even though online mail is more convenient, getting mail in your mail box is more fun. My little girls light up when they check the mail box and find something with their name on it. That's how I came up with the idea to send postcards to their friends and family. But who wants to go to the gas station and buy some of those lame local town postcards for your kids to send out? You can't find cool postcards anymore. Why not make your own? You can get creative and make any postcard you like! The easiest way to start making your very own postcards, is to grab an empty Gummie Fruit Snack box and cut it to size.

Crafty Tip ~ A Standard postcard measures between 3 1/2 x 5 inches and 4 1/2 inches x 6 inches. Anything sent postcard-style (no-envelope) that measures differently or is not rectangular needs first-class postage.

While my kids were playing outside today, I decided to make my own postcard. I went to my craft bag and found some soft brown fabric, that I had left over from a Halloween costume I made for my best friends son, and some purple ribbon. I wasn't sure how those 2 colors were going to work together but I was being open minded. It turned out to be very classy like!
I took pictures as I made the post card....

I started with a gummie box and cut out one side of it

 Then I measured out a 6 inch by 4 1/4 inch rectangle

I cut out the postcard and traced it to the back of my fabric

After I traced and cut out my fabric, I glued the fabric to my postcard and trimmed off the raw edges

Time to move on to the Ribbon!

I cut a small piece out of the middle of my wide ribbon and decided to glue it across my postcard. (From one corner to the other) And cut off the edges

After the glue dried, it was time to flip over my postcard and add the stamp words and address lines.

I did a google search and found a nice template for the back of a postcard.

My post card

You can use old T-shirts, stickers, googly eyes, lace, Or just for fun, If your cardboard piece has a cool design on it already then you can just add the words and lines to the back and mail it that way (I made one out of a baby formula label back when my girls were babies!)

If your going on a trip soon, this would be a fun project for you to do with your kids before supper! You can get some of the cheap postcards from the gas station along with a road map or odd food labels from the area your visiting. Just cut the map or food labels to the size of the post card and replace the store bought image with an awesome travel image of your own!! What a wonderful way to tell your family and friends about all the fun your having on your trip!

Back To School Supplies

On August 16, I will officially be a mother of nothing but school kids! My youngest daughter, Ciara, is starting Kindergarten this year. (I'm not too happy about that part of the situation) I am excited about having a few hours each day to myself..... kid-less!! (That don't happen too often..... babysitters are VERY rare!) My oldest daughter will be starting 1st grade! My girls are 5 and 6, they have recently decided that they are “stylish girls”. Dangly earrings, dresses, sparkly clothes etc. Jade, my 5 yr old, told me today that she wanted girly pretty clothes for school. Loran, my 6 yr old, is all about skirts and dresses here lately.... mainly skirts. On top of clothes shopping, that I haven’t even started yet, there is the school supply shopping. I don't know if it's just me but it seems like every year the supply lists keep getting longer! I understand that the teachers have to pay for a lot of the classroom supplies and every little bit helps but why would each kindergarten kid need to bring 5 glue-sticks? That's 120 glue-sticks per classroom if there are at least 24 kids in the class! *That's ALOT of glue-sticks* Yesterday I was able to get almost everything on my daughters supply lists. Below is my girls' School Supply Lists:

Jade's Kindergarten Supply List

Black shows what I haven’t bought yet

Jacket for Cool Days
Baggie with a Full Change of Clothes (labeled with name)
1 Box of Crayons (16-24 count)

1 Plastic Folder with Prongs (any color)
1 Composition Book

Optional Items:
Additional glue sticks

Hand Sanitizer
Disinfectant Wipes (ex. Lysol wipes)

Loran's 1st Grade Supply List
Pink Shows what I bought
Black show what I haven’t bought yet

1 Backpack
1 Extra Large Stick
1 pkg. Pencils
1 Large Eraser
1 Box of Crayons (16-24 count)
1 Spiral Notebook
2 Durable Plastic Folders with Brads & Pockets (blue and red)
1 Small Pencil Box
1 Small pair of Safety Scissors

Optional Items:
1 Box of Tissues
1 Bottle of Liquid Soap
1 Box of Gallon sized Ziploc Bags
1 Box of Quart sized Ziploc Bags

Yesterday we spent almost $50 on school supplies, 45.56 (minus some bath soap and 2 cups that were on sale)!! Which is a lot more than I thought we would spend. That didn't even include the back pack and shoes! I was planning on going to Office Max to get the supplies but we ended up going to K-Mart instead. Most of the supplies were on sale. I completely forgot about buying towel, so I guess we did pretty good since the towel was $11.69. Ciara picked out a really cute Hot-Pink polka dotted towel with a black trim. It's very adorable!! Jade is normally a purple girl but this towel is just to cute not to love! I was even able to buy 2 things for Jade's kindergarten Treasure Chest! I got a little paint by number set and some mini star sticky notes. Good thing this weekend was No-Tax Weekend!!

We're planning on buying the school clothes next week. I've been collecting pants for the girls from where my friend's daughter has grown out of most of her clothes! 90% of the clothes that I got from her were either never been wore of barley worn so Loran was able to get a few pairs of pants and a couple shirts without me even buying anything yet. But of course...... I have to buy skirts, leggings and stylish shirts. My girls also need some dress shoes and REAL earrings! Their ears get red and sore when they wear fake earrings so I have to buy them some silver ones to wear to school their holes don't grow up. It hasn't even been a year since they got them pierced so I can't leave them out for to long.
Looks like I still got a few long shopping days to go before I can relax at home and enjoy some kid-less hours!! The excitement is starting to bubble up in my tummy!! I sure hope my little Jade does good and don't get scared and shy on her 1st day of school. I'm sure I'll cry a bit but maybe not too much! :)
(I only cried a tiny bit when Loran started school and I was able to wait until I made it to the car and I also hid it from my fiance..... I think I hid it anyway)
