How to Take Your Art into the Next Dimension with Cricut

Its time take your Art to the next level... With Cricut!

(sponsored post)

It started out as a simple doodle, something small, thoughtlessly drawn on the sidelines of your to-do list. But somehow that tiny graphic element took over and before you knew it, it became the decorative element to everything in your world. Unfortunately all of those random details that you added have made it virtually impossible to transform it into the third dimension.
Not anymore!
If you can print it, you can cut it with the Cricut Explore machine.

Now with the newest feature of the Cricut Explore machine, you can choose your image (either your own or one of 50,000+ in the Cricut Design Lab), flatten the image and then click 'Go'. Once printed, the Cricut Explore machine works its wonderful magic and brings your 2-dimensional idea into the next level.
Check out the short instructional video below and see just how easy it can be…

KIDS CRAFT: "Painted All By Myself" Wall Art

"Painted All By Myself" Wall Art Craft Project

Spend quality time with your little ones with this fun Art Project that is not only a fun activity to do with your child, but a piece of art as well! I saw this project on one of my friend's facebook page and fell in love! She was kind enough to let me use her pictures and share this cute craft that she did with her daughter, with all of you! I hope you enjoy it!

You will need:
  • A Tall Canvas (Purchased at craft store) or a sanded piece of wood
  • Painters Tape
  • Washable Paint
  • Clear Acrylic Spray Paint
  • Large or Medium Paintbrush
  • Paint Tray

Directions:

If your using a piece of wood, the first step would be for you to add a base coat for the background of the art. Wait until it's completely dry.

Spell out your child's name across or down the canvas with the painters tape. (Make sure the edges are pressed down firmly)

Add paint to the tray and let your child decorate the canvas any way that they like.

Isn't she adorable?!

Once the painting is complete, Sit it in a safe place until it fully dries.
Slowly and Carefully peel off the tape to reveal the finished art work.

The finished masterpiece!!!
These would make memorable gifts for the Holidays! Not to mention the fun you and your kids will have making these neat and personal Wall Art Pieces!

Craftsy Logo

Craftsy now has mini-courses!!!

Craftsy's mini-courses have the same great content that we all have come to expect from Craftsy.com  but feature student-led discussions and are much shorter in length than the regular courses.
They're a perfect way to learn new skills and experience the Craftsy platform first-hand!

I'm super excited about the mini-courses and have big plans on what I'm taking next!

One of the mini-courses at Craftsy is called Sewing Machine 911. I recently got a sewing machine but since I haven't use one in many years... I could use a refresher course. In this course I am hoping to learn how to clean and maintain my sewing machine with lots of neat tips and tricks.
I'm also looking forward to taking The Hand-Painted Cake Course! I look forward to learning how to make edible works of art to show off to my family and friends. My daughters' birthdays are coming up and I would LOVE to make a one of a kind cake for my precious girls!

DIY Yarn Bracelets

Did you know you can make stylish little bracelets out of a toilet paper roll, yarn and duck tape?

It's really simple and great for Pre-Teen and Teen kids! The younger kiddo's can make them too but it might be easier for them to do this same technique on a pencil.

All you need is

Toilet Paper Roll
Yarn
Duck Tape

Directions

Start by cutting the cardboard tube length wise

Place the tube on your wrist and mark off how wide you want the bracelet to be.

Remove tube from your arm and cut the tube to that width.

Cover the inside of the tube with duck tape. This will help keep the bracelet's shape.

Tape a small piece of yarn (About 2 1/2 inches) to the back of each end of your bracelet.
This will be how you tie the bracelet on your arm.

Tape another piece of yarn going in the other direction and star wrapping it around the cardboard

You can switch colors through out the bracelet just make sure you leave a tail when you cut the string. Wrap the tails once you start your next color.
Once you get to the other end, Weave your string ends through the back of the bracelet to secure it.

Your Bracelet is complete!!

You can use this same technique on headbands, picture frame and pencils too!
