St. Patrick's Day is celebrated all over the world (St. Patty's Day is celebrated on the space station as well!) and everyone chooses to celebrate this green holiday quite differently — while some are running from pub to pub, others are out racing green across finish lines.

St. Patrick's Day began as a holiday in honor a man named St. Patrick who did great work in Ireland during the late 5th Century. Throughout the years, St. Patrick's Day has become more of a day to simply celebrate being Irish. Across the world, people who want to celebrate head to parades and events whether they're really "Irish" or not. Little Passports (A monthly children's subscription service that teaches your kids about different states in the USA and new countries around the world) has shared some of the special festivities planned in each of these countries.

Australia

In Brisbane, the St. Patrick's Day celebrations last for ten days and include a parade, Irish dancing, dinners, boxing matches, as well as a Family Sports Day which includes Gaelic Football and other Gaelic sports!

Japan

In Tokyo, over 1,000 people wearing green will take part in their parade this year. They also host an International Collegiate Festival with workshops where you can learn Irish dance, play Irish music, and enjoy a full day of concerts!

Ireland

Dublin hosts a giant four day festival featuring a parade with marching bands from all over the world. They also hold a fair with carousels, roller coasters and Ferris wheels and an Enchanted Banquet which includes a "curious evening" with plenty of erish fables, fairy tales and folklore. The festivities begin with famous buildings like the Blarney Castle, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the Bank of Ireland being lit green!

United States

The United States hosts St. Patrick's Day parades in over 100 cities. One of the biggest is in the city of Chicago, who famously dyes its river green for the day! After the huge parade which draws thousands of people, you can head to the St. Patrick’s Day Festival at the Irish American Heritage Center and listen to Irish music, dance, and of course eat good old Irish food and drinks!

Saint Patrick’s Day is known to be associated with everything Irish: anything green, gold, shamrocks as well as luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning: a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.

Why is Saint Patrick's Day celebrated on March 17th?

There are a few different stories about why Saint Patrick's Day lands on March 17th. One theory is that that is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, many Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating begins.

In America, St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal. Big cities as well as small towns celebrate with parades, wearing the color green, music and songs, Irish food and drinks, and activities for kids such as: crafts, coloring and games. Some communities take things to the extremes and dye their rivers and/or streams GREEN!

(I know, crazy right? I bet it looks awesome though!)

The Orgreenic - Non-Stick Green Pan

If you are like me, you have your favorite frying pan. The one you always call on for a perfect omelette or eggs. Mine is as old as I am, but I've been hesitant to get rid of it because they just don't make pans like they use to.

Recently, my fiance's coworker told him about the Orgreenic perfect green pan. He told him that it was sold at CVS and other retailers for $19.99 plus tax.

After some convincing he got one for me, and I tried it out.

I instantly fell in love.

The directions are simple and straight forward. Before your first use, you "season" the pan. *For anyone who doesn't know - seasoning is simply applying butter or Crisco to the surface, heating it till it is hot enough to slightly smoke, then letting it cool, and washing with warm soapy water.

The pan does everything the packaging says it does. NOTHING sticks to it (Not even melted caramel or burnt chocolate!!), and you don't even have to use butter! Perfect for healthier cooking! The price is very reasonable and worth every penny. My very first omelette out of my Orgreenic pan was 5 star perfection! Cleanup is amazingly easy. Since nothing sticks, washing is a snap.

The pan is not only for stove top cooking. It can be used in the oven and broiler as well! The handle is metal and never gets hot while on the stove. I got this pan over a week ago, and I have been telling everyone I know about it. The Orgreenic green line also features a griddle pan and a perfect flip pancake pan. Those two will be in my kitchen inventory very soon. This pan has NO downfalls! You will not be disappointed with your purchase, I guarantee it!

My fiance decided that he wanted to make a compost pile to help out my flowers that we are planning on planting soon.
We brain stormed and came up with some great ideas with the things we had around the house. 
I figured since it only took use about 30-45 minutes to complete, it would make a great post for all my readers.... So here it is!!

Learn how to make your own compost pile out of a Storage Tote!

Cut the bottom out of a regular size storage tote

Our Collections for the Carbon-rich Brown Layer of stuff like dead leaves, straw, shredded newspaper, dead flowers etc and Nitrogen-rich Green
Layer of grass clippings, Natural Food Scraps (Plant based scraps including veggie peals and fruit rinds - NO Meat)

Measure the bottom so you can dig the right size hole

Pack in the bottom to begin the layering.

Make sure you layer your compost

Start your compost with a Brown Dry Layer

After you get your first layer of Brown stuff -
It's time to start with the first Green Layer

Add a shovel or 2 of Soil

We already had a compost in a big bucket but my fiance forgot to cover it when a big storm came so it got to wet. If your soil is not wet - Moisten your layers at this point.

You can also add worms to your compost if you happen to run across some like my daughters did!

Continue your layers until you fun out of supplies of make it to 3ft tall.
Our compost pile is not 3 feet tall but we are very proud of our family project!

 Making our Compost Pile was a wonderful family project! I loved every minute of it and so did the girls! It was fun!
