Top Choices for Children's Books, including: My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish, Fancy Nancy & Doll Bones

Reading with my daughters has always been one of my favorite family activities and now that my girls are able to read along with me, I've tried to keep a good collection of their level books on hand as well as a back up list of popular and fun sounding books to look forward too. I'm sharing my back up list with you. The books below are for kids ranging in ages from 5yrs to 8yrs and can be found on Amazon.

The Dancing Diva's
Reading List

My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish, by Mo' O'Hara - When Tom’s big brother decides to become an Evil Scientist, his first experiment involves dunking Frankie the goldfish into toxic green gunk. But that's only the beginning!

Fancy Nancy: Nancy Clancy, Secret Admirer by Jane O' Connor - Nancy and Bree decide to play matchmaker, but nothing works out as planned. Will love conquer all in the end?

Ramona Forever by Beverly ClearyRamona has a lot on her mind: Beezus's teenage moods are driving everyone crazy, family pet Picky-picky hasn't been looking too well, and Mr. Quimby's new job offer might mean a big move. But all these worries vanish in the light of not one, but two exciting announcements.

Just Grace and the Trouble with Cupcakes by Charise Mericle Harper - It's time for the school fair, and Just Grace's class has chosen a cupcake theme. But the fair’s highlight, a cupcake competition, causes quite a stir when Grace gets paired with dreadful Owen 1 and not with her best pal, Mimi.

Ready, Set, Dogs (No Dogs Allowed) by Stephanie Calmenson - Kate and Lucie are best friends. Kate is neat and Lucie is messy. Kate wakes up early and Lucie loves to sleep in. But both girls love, love, love dogs!

Ant and Honey Bee: A Pair of Friends in Winter by Megan McDonald - Brrrr! The leaves are off the trees, and frost is on the ground. It’s time for bugs to hunker down and hide out for the winter. But Ant isn’t ready to hunker down.

Doll Bones by Holly Black - A doll that may be haunted leads three friends on a thrilling adventure in this delightfully creepy novel from the New York Times bestselling cocreator of the Spiderwick Chronicles.

Dream Animals: A Bedtime Journey by Emily Winfield Martin - Emily Martin convinces children to close their eyes and discover who their dream animal might be, and what dream it might take them to. With a perfect nighttime rhyme and gorgeous illustrations, this book is irresistible.

Matilda by Roald Dahl - “The Trunchbull” is no match for Matilda! Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress.

Ellen Tebbits by Beverly Clearly - Ellen was eight years old and wore bands on her teeth. Her best friend had just moved away and she missed her. Still, as she walked to the Spofford School of the Dance one Saturday, she was almost glad she had no best friend. Best friends do not have secrets from each other, and Ellen had a secret she did not want to share with anyone.
