I recently got the chance to test out a few of the products from Moms Flourish and I love the simple ideas that have cured not only our toothbrush confusion but the overuse of band-aids and Emergency number organization as well!

What I received was a set of BooBoo Covers, Toothbrush Labels and Dry-Erase Emergency Lists with sticky backs! The Boo-Boo covers are my daughters favorite! They are soft fabric that slip over top of your little ones Boo-Boo's and helps comfort them. Their perfect for those unseen boo-boo's that require kisses to make feel better or you can place them over top of band-aids to add an extra layer of love with the sewn on kisses that are simply adorable.
They come in a pack with 3 different design sizes: One for the finger, One for the elbow/knee, and One for your hand. The Finger Boo-Boo Cover is the perfect size for a toddlers little hand. While the other 2 Boo-Boo Covers seem to fit kids up to the ages of about 6 or 7. (Depends on the child.) Loran is 7 and loved having a Boo-Boo Cover to come home too when she scrape her elbow while hiking with her daddy. Jade's hand fits perfectly in the hand cover but she hasn't needed it's comfort quiet yet :)
The Toothbrush Labels are just what my girls needed! They can't seem to remember which one chose which color toothbrush and now with the labels that feel and look like those little comfort pencil cozies  They even fit on pens, small spoons and more. Great for helping to keep up with everyone's things.

Every mother knows that keeping up with your child's belongings is not an easy task, no matter how old they are. As soon as you drop your little angel off, your sure to be missing something  within a week. Until now! Kidecals labels are made to make sure that everyone knows what belongings, belong to your child. Kidecals Labels are water-proof, dryer-proof as well as dishwasher-proof and they will sick to any surface! Did I mention that you can choose from several different designs, for all ages and occasions... even adults? Personalize the labels to say anything you like. For example: Your Child's Name, School, Address, even a phone number, the choice is yours. If your child is allergic to something and you want to make sure that everyone around them knows about it - Kidecals has labels for that too!! What Katrina from The Nurse Mommy says about Dropcam:
You can download their app onto your smart phone or tablet, and view what’s going on or login from a computer. I had a difficult time with setting up, since I had the wrong Wi-Fi connection. Not a big deal, I just switched the settings, and my Dropcam was up and running in no time at all. I plugged it into my computer for initial setup, plugged it into the wall. After that? I just pointed it where I wanted it to record.

The picture is great and the two-way sound is also really cool. I
can talk to people and see things in my house even when I’m not there, which is pretty awesome!! The HD video is 720p.
For those who know what that means... that’s pretty good!

I wasn’t able to attend one of my daughter’s physical therapy sessions because I was working; however, I was able to watch part of it because of this camera. DropCam has allowed me to participate in her therapy even though I'm not actually there in person. It also helps me keep up with our home activities, since I'm able to watch what the therapist does and can try to work on those things later.

As long as you have an outlet and Wi-Fi access, you can use
the camera. They also include wall mounting brackets, in case you want to mount the camera on the wall.
This is much much more than your normal baby monitor -- it can be used as a security camera and you can also set it to notify you when something/someone walks by it or when the DropCam senses noise!

GUESS WHAT?!
Dropcam has agreed to Giveaway a camera to 1 lucky

winner. If you don't win, definitely buy yourself a Dropcam from Amazon and get peace of mind while your away.

Enter via Giveaway Tools form below.

NC Lawmakers have approved a bill that will expand where concealed handguns are allowed to be present!

The bill (backed by Republicans) was approved by both - the House and Senate on this past Tuesday (July 23, 2013) that would allow gun owners (concealed-carry permit holders) to take firearms into restaurants, bars and other places where alcohol is served. Bar and Restaurant owners still have the option to ban firearms on their property if they see fit!
The bill will also allow those with legal gun permits to store their firearms in locked cars on collage campuses as well as any other public school or university. Guns will also be allowed on playgrounds, parks, greenways, hiking trails and any other public recreation area!

The bill once included a repeal of the long-standing law that requires that you get a background check and permit that is issued by County Sheriffs for handgun purchases! Luckily this was dropped on the final bill and was an extreme controversial provision!

It's said that the bill now sits on North Carolina's Republican Governor - Pat McCrory's desk and he is expected to sign it in the next few days!!

We can't let this happen! I understand the concern about the safety of our children and the Sandy Hook event was extremely tragic and we don't want anything like this to happen again but I don't agree with everything that this new bill consists of.

First off - Collage is a very special and sometimes stressful time during a young persons life. Noone wants to admit this, but... lots of parties, anger & stress are formed throughout a young adult's years while attending collage and I don't believe that allowing guns to be so closely available to these collage students, would be a good idea! All it takes is for one student to decide that they've had enough and get their hands on one of these guns. We may find ourselves witnessing another horrific event being broadcasted throughout our news stations.

Secondly - Playgrounds and Parks? Really?? Why would you need a gun when your talking your child to go play? I understand that there are many predators in this world but shooting one of them if they bother your child will just land you some major jail time... Am I right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I want to protect my children as much as the next mom but I don't believe that broadening the gun allowance is the answer to our problems. The hiking trails could be dangerous as well but doesn't worry me as much as some of the others... But it still crosses my mind.

My next concern about this new bill is about guns possibly being allowed into Bars and Restaurants that serve alcohol! Hello!! Has no one heard of the drunken ex-boyfriend that legally owns a gun, ends up drinking too much (trying to wash away the pain of a recent break-up) and runs across someone who he either doesn't like, did him wrong or just happen to make him mad at the wrong moment.... I've been drunk before and I've learned that you rarely ever think your actions through until you wake up the next morning and regret the events that happened while you were 3 sheets to the wind. Alcohol and Firearms do NOT make a good pair!

Last but maybe a bit more important is the possible allowance of firearms being allowed in our public schools. I somewhat believe in what Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and TN State Sen. has mentioned: (Posted below via Huff Post Politics)

Gov. Haslam says he will consider a Tennessee plan to secretly arm and train some teachers, TPM reports. The legislation will be introduced by State Sen. Frank Niceley (R) next month.

"Say some madman comes in. The first person he would probably try to take out was the resource officer. But if he doesn’t know which teacher has training, then he wouldn't know which one had [a gun]," Niceley told TPM. "These guys are obviously cowards anyway and if someone starts shooting back, they’re going to take cover, maybe go ahead and commit suicide like most of them have."

Even though I am not a fan of any gun being inside of my daughters' school... They have a good point but I still have some big concerns. Elementary Schools and possibly Middle Schools may do fine with random teachers getting secretly trained to handle a firearm and be allowed to LOCK it away in their classroom but High-School is a whole other story! High-School students are nothing but smaller collage students and tempers flare up often. Has anyone payed attention at the size of kids these days? It seems like the difference of a normal 15 year old child 10 years ago is quiet smaller than a normal 15 year old child in 2013! It wouldn't take much for one of these students
to over power a teacher if they are angry enough. A concern that may happen more often than a student overpowering their teacher for the gun, is figuring out where the gun is hidden (once they figure out who in the school has one) Teachers are not always in their classrooms at all times and I seriously don't believe that any hiding place will be good enough for a determined teenager! You can say that the firearms would be locked up safely and tightly but if this is so - Then how would the teacher get the gun out fast enough if a madman does happen to attack? The weapon would be needed in a matter of seconds and if the teacher has to go to the closet, unlock a safe, load and then shoot.... It would of already been too late and lives would be lost.

I don't have any answers to my own questions, even though I wish I did... I have no suggestions on how we can keep our children and community safe from violence ... I truthfully and sadly don't believe it's possible! There are some extreme consequences on both sides of each subject that I've mentioned and the idea of being able to stop violence completely is just about as impossible as raising a flying pig... Having nice and caring people starts with how a child is raised and treated throughout their life and we can't control how parents, bullies, Ex (or current) Boyfriends/Girlfriends, Classmates and Co-Workers are going to treat each person that they meet and it can take one wrong thing said or a collection of wrongs to cause someone to flip. Violence is a part of life and placing firearms where our over-worked and stressed out children/young adults are, can't be the answer that we are all looking for. Maybe we should post an armed Military man outside of EVERY SCHOOL to protect the school and students. At this moment... That option sounds like a wonderful starting point!

I would love to hear your opinion on this subject. Wither your from NC or not, your opinion matters!

Do you believe that the new NC bill should or should not be passed?

10 things you didn’t know about ME!!

-- 10 things you didn’t know about me --

  1. Hello, My name is Autumn and I'm a Dewoholic! Mountain Dew, that is :)
  2. To me... First impressions are HUGE when it comes to getting to know someone.
  3. I got pregnant with my 1st child at age 17 but didn’t know I was pregnant until I had already turned 18 years old.
  4. I’ve always wanted a daughter named Nadia Lashaye but my fiance don’t like the name, so I had to come up with different names when I had my daughters.
  5. I have a short temper and have the tendency to yell a lot - I’m working on it. (Some people say it‘s a Bad Attitude Problem)
  6. When I got pregnant, I never once wanted to give birth to a baby boy, I’ve always wanted daughters ever since I was a child. But If I would have had a son, I would of loved him just as much as I do my girls. I have 2 step-sons and I‘ve loved them since way before pregnancy happened.
  7. I have many Childhood/Teenage obsessions that I’ve proudly brought with me into adulthood. Some including: Strawberry Shortcake, Carebears (Mainly Cheer Bear - light pink w/Rainbow belly badge), My Little Pony, Video Games, Crafts, the love of Collecting Randoms, the urge to NOT throw something away, and many more…. :) Sometimes my fiance thinks I have issues! Haha
  8. I love reading Fantasy books, others just don’t seem to interest me too much -My favorite 2 series are: The Twilight Series and The Iron Fae Series - I’ve read them all more than twice a piece. (8 books total)
  9. I’ve had many nicknames throughout my my life, some have stayed some have passed. But the one I miss the most is being called “Amber” aka “Amber-Alert.”
  10. I’ve been with Alan, who I often refer to as my fiance, for over 9 years and the subject of marriage don’t often come up. I’m perfectly okay with that because that decision belongs to me, 100%.
There you have it! 10 things you may not of known about me, Autumn B.- Writer of My Kind Of Introduction. :) I hope that nothing above changes how you feel about me… I don’t believe anything is bad enough for that to happen but sometimes you never can tell. All in all - I’m just a Country girl who’s trying to raise 2 little girls the best way I can, in this crazy world of ours. I’m not too different than alot of you.

I only gave the minimum amount of detail on my list so you may be a bit lost or confused with a few of my facts. If that’s the case or even if it’s not, Feel free to comment below with any questions or thoughts about the choices that I made for my list above :)

Katy Perry Costume Review - Birthday in a Box Costumes

Birthday in a Box

Disclaimer: I received the products mentioned below complementary from the sponsor in return for this review. My daughters and I always give our honest opinions and only bring you products that I believe my readers will benefit from and/or enjoy. This post may contain affiliate links for your convenience, see full Disclosure for more details.

Most of you know that I have 2 daughters that are only 11 months apart. They are my everything and as they've gotten older I come to realize that Jade and Loran become more and more like me everyday. That's a bit scary in a since :) haha Not really, I just happen to have a bit of an attitude sometimes. But that's a story for another day! My girls are completely different when it comes to most things but it seems like their taste in most music is the same as well as the "older-aged" shows and movies. I say this because they are both CRAZY for Katy Perry! No joke! My little girls know almost every word to a many of Katy Perry's popular songs! I have a Concert DVD that Loran and Jade can't get enough of! They've been watching it over and over for the past couple days, dancing around and switching back and forth on who was going to wear their new Katy Perry costume dress that we received from Birthday in a Box! (They've even went to sleep watching the dvd for 3 nights straight! They tried to sleep in their dress but I made them change.)

Loran and Jade were at their Maw-Maw's house when the costume arrived and I couldn't wait for them to get home... One - because I missed them like crazy (They were gone for 10 days, out of town, 1 1/2 hrs away) and Two - I wanted to see their faces when I gave them their new costume!

My girls LOVE their Katy Perry dress! My favorite part about the costume is that when I chose a size Medium, I crossed my finders and hoped that it would fit both of them and was overjoyed when I realized that it did!! Both girls can wear the Katy Perry dress with no problem! Jade is the HUGE Katy Perry fan and she's worn the dress the most, every time I turn around I see that little candy colored dress bouncing around with a blonde head attached at the top! :) You may remember from the past tha Loran and Jade like to do video reviews of the products that we receive for them... so who could resist doing a video for the Katy Perry Costume! They aren't known for The Dancing Diva's for nothing!

If you would like to see more of Loran and Jade's videos,
Find them on YouTube
Look for the Dancing Diva's Playlist on My Kind Of Introduction's YouTube page!!

You can kind of see the
blue wig on the costume bag!
(My camera flash gave off a glare
every-time I took this photo!)
The costume is a silky-like fabric and has light but vibrant colors throughout the dress and who can miss all of the candy that covers the top front of the dress. It's as cute as can be and both girls agree that their Katy Perry Costume is very comfy! Comfy dress-up clothes and/or Halloween gear are what we like best, no one wants to start itching from a tickling tulle skirt!
You can also purchase the blue Katy Perry wig (the one that has the heart on the side of her head) at Birthday in a Box as well. We chose not to get the wig due to the face that they don't last long at my house. (The girls had an orange wig once and it got all matted up quick!) Loran ad Jade don't miss the wig at all, they love the dress and that's all that matters in my book! Who knew so much attitude and sassy looks can come out of 3 little girls?! These girls sure know how to throw around the model poses and Mrs. Priss facial expression.

Birthday in a Box has all kinds of costumes, party decorations Halloween decor and much more!
Make sure you visit the Birthday in a Box website to see what all they can offer you for your partying, Halloween and/or dress-up needs!!

How I handle Inappropriate Movie Choices w/ My Kids

How do you handle your child when they want to watch a movie that is not appropriate?

Our daughters are barley 6 and 7 years old, their birthdays literally just passed a few weeks ago. They’re just starting to get to the age where they enjoy a wider range of movies and shows and not strictly the cartoon versions. (They still won‘t watch the 'real dog' version of "101 Dalmatians".) Loran is the oldest and she still has moments where she wants to watch "Caillou", "Sam & Cat", and "Franklin". While Jade lost interest in "Caillou" a while ago but is still a big "Dora" fan, loves "She-Ra" & "He-Man" and enjoys anything "Katy Perry". (Which isn’t normally a movie choice unless you own a concert or Documentary DVD, which we do.) Both girls enjoy watching "Full House", cooking shows/competitions and the movie "Grease". (They discovered Grease when both Loran and Jade‘s kindergarten song was based from the original version on Summer Lovin‘ and I couldn‘t help but YouTube the scene and they were hooked after that.) Their brother Mj is more into shows like Wild Man and movies like Transformers and others that are similar. (He has different rules when he‘s not at our house and watches a wider variety.)
Our kids like variety!! It makes life interesting and I couldn’t ask for anything better J

When it comes to inappropriate movies and shows for our kids, my fiance and I have 2 completely different opinions. My fiance believes that pretty much anything goes! He was one of those kids that was watching Rambo and Terminator at age 5, apparently there is also a Rambo cartoon that I’d never heard of before I met Alan. The only decent shows that I’ve heard about him watching as a child is “Thundercats” and “He-Man”! The man had never heard of the nursery rhyme “How much is that doggie in the window” until I mentioned it, after our 2 daughters were born! So as you see, Alan don’t really get to chose which movies are appropriate for our kids often, unless it’s a cartoon… he does pretty well with little girl cartoons… you can’t go wrong with most of them. Grown-up movies is where we clash. Most of the time, Alan simply tells the kids to “Go ask Mommy” when he’s not sure if I would approve of their choice of movie.

When it comes to what I believe is an inappropriate movie/show, it varies. As a child I was very quiet and ended up being a tomboy outdoors and a girlie girl indoors. I wasn’t around anything inappropriate on my tv until my mama and daddy split up. I discovered many inappropriate shows and movies and I don’t want my kids brought up watching vulgar TV.

When my girls ask if they can watch a movie and it turns out to be a grown-up movie is to make sure that I’ve seen it before so I know what’s going to happen. (Grown-Up Movies what we call movies with real people in them unless it‘s one of the Tween/Teen shows like on Nickelodeon and Disney and then we use the term -Their Shows) The Movies and tv shows that I don’t allow my kids to watch (not even my youngest step-son who is age 10) are the ones with lots of cussing, vulgar/grown-up jokes, visible sex (Where body’s are seen, action is visible and sounds are loudly heard! Scenes like the ones in Dirty Dancing are fine… for the most part) blood and death, etc - The normal no-no’s that most parents worry about.

I simply tell the kids that the movie they chose is a grown-up movie and they aren’t allowed to watch it. For the most part, they take it very well. Sometimes they respond with “When I get as big as you Mommy, then can I watch it?” or “I‘ll watch it when I turn 22, okay Mommy!” They’ve been hung up on the age 22 for just over 3 years, since I was 22. If they don’t say 22, they say 25 and I’m sure in a few months it will be 26... Which is the age I will be in October J My girls have quiet a temper sometimes but I don’t remember one time that they've gotten mad at me over not being able to watch a movie. Except maybe when I banned Sponge Bob for a few months…. That caused a few tears but once I explained my reasons and let them quietly cry for a minute longer, just to get it out of their system, they would be perfectly fine and chose something else to watch and everything goes back to normal. My girls are pretty easy going about movies and tv show choices most days, they only seem to argue the choices out with each other, not my fiance and I. I’m sure I’ll have challenges here and there as they get older but I’ll cross that bridge when we get there!
Even though movie choices don’t cause a big fuss in my house… try and tell the girls that they can’t have a whole bag of chips when it’s 20 minutes until Supper time…. THEN you have a whole different situation on your hands!

I would like to hear your opinion on the subject as well!

How do you tell your kids that the movie they chose is inappropriate?

Would you consider Dirty Dancing and Grease to be to inappropriate movie choices for a children ages 6-8?

This post was created as an entry in a Blogger Writing Contest held by +Mommy Bear Media. I was to write a post using the question asked below. Among all of the bloggers who entered the contest, I WON!!! I could hardly believe it when I opened the email! :) I got to chose 2 movies as my prize. I chose "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" & "Smurfs" which will both be put to good use! I'm so excited!!
